Volunteers needed for March 18 event in Chelan

MANSON -We welcome our newest member to the Manson Chamber of Commerce, “Jet Skis Ahoy”, located at 1320 W. Woodin Avenue in Chelan.
“We are a family-owned and operated company. Our family has been living and working in this bountiful valley since the early 1900s. We offer pontoon, speed boats, jet ski and paddle board rentals from our marina on Lake Chelan,” stated Payton Stevens, co-owner.
The team at “Jet Skis Ahoy” are taking an active role in supporting a remarkable effort, lead by “Feed My Starving Children”, a national, non-profit based in Minnesota. Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) believes hope starts with food. As a Christian nonprofit, FMSC is dedicated to seeing every child whole in body and spirit. FMSC works with food distribution partners that stay with communities for the long haul, empowering them to move from relief to development. Every year, millions of children die from preventable causes such as pneumonia, diarrhea, malaria and undernutrition. Hunger is still causing nearly half of deaths in children under 5 years old.
Payton says, “We are looking for volunteers to help measure, scoop ingredients, seal bags and prepare boxes for shipping. The event takes place on Saturday, March 18 at the Lake Chelan Community Gym. With the help from the community, we will pack over 100,000 meals to feed people in need. We are seeking volunteers to sign up for any or all two-hour time slots starting at 9 a.m. and ending at 5 p.m. (9-11, 12-2, 3-5) there will be a 1-hour break between each session.”
This effort in the Chelan valley hopes to raise $30,000. FMSC asks you consider becoming a corporate sponsor, offering a matching grant or other creative fundraising ideas.
