Memorial Day Parade to be held Thursday, May 25

Posted

CHELAN - Memorial Day is an American holiday, observed on the last Monday of May, honoring the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. Memorial Day 2023 will occur on Monday, May 29.
Originally known as Decoration Day, it originated in the years following the Civil War and became an official federal holiday in 1971. Many Americans observe Memorial Day by visiting cemeteries or memorials, holding family gatherings and participating in local parades.

Memorial Day Parade: May 25

CHELAN — The Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce is proud to work with our local Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #6853 in the planning and execution of the annual Memorial Day Parade. We are honored to produce and host this parade as a symbol of respect and an opportunity to honor all the individuals who have given the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.
The Parade will begin at 7 p.m., starting at the Old  (Woodin Avenue) Bridge. The parade will begin with a precession and moment of silence to honor those who have fallen. The general parade will begin shortly there after, and end at Riverwalk Park.
Before the parade our annual Appreciation Reception will take place on May 25, at 5:30 p.m. at the Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center. Veterans and their families are invited to participate. Special thank you to The Meat Shop for sponsoring this meal.
