Eric Roberts, 7, of Chelan was dressed in true rodeo clown spirit while enjoying the festivities with family at the 2017 Lake Chelan Rodeo.

CHELAN - Its Rodeo Time in Lake Chelan, Washington and in July and August you will see just as many pickups and horse trailers in the valley as convertibles and camp trailers withe the Chelan Jr. Rodeo and Lake Chelan Rodeo bringing cowboys and cowgirls to the Lake Chelan Valley.

The Chelan FFA Alumni and the Chelan Rustlers invite you to take in the rodeo action this Friday and Saturday, August 3 and 4 at the Rodeo Grounds in Union Valley.

Rodeo Parade
Thursday, August 2
Rodeo activities kick off with the annual Rodeo Parade down mainstreet on Thursday, August 2.   The parade starts at 7 p.m. and you are invited to line the parade route to see the horses, the kids, the pretty girls, cool cars, and dignitaries from all our surrounding communities.
Or if you wish, be more than just a bytstander, fill out an application and put your business, club, or family in the parade.  Drive your truck, ride your bike, or just ride with your friends.  The Rodeo Parade is always a big hit. Forms are available at the Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce and at All Seasons Rentals.

Friday evening,
August 3
Friday Family Night is presented by KOZI Radio Lake Chelan.  KOZI. The gates open at 5 p.m. on Friday.  You can purchase cowboy and cowgirl apparel from vendors and enjoy the burger from the FFA Alumni Cookshack, or an adult beverage in the beer garden.

The rodeo kicks off at 7:30 p.m. with the Grand Entry of visiting royalty, the Shadow Bay Belgians and the National Anthem.  

Then we’ll kick the tires and light the fires and crack the chutes with Ranch Bronc riding, Bareback Riding, Steer Wrestling, Team Roping, Saddle Bronc Riding, Tie Down Roping, Breakaway Roping, Barrel Racing, and Bull Riding.  Rodeo Clown and barrelman Kyle Bode will provide the entertainment and don’t forget to get your kids (12 and Under) in “World Famous Chicken Race” presented by Slidewaters.

Saturday morning,
August 4

Saturday morning kicks off  with a 64 year tradition of the “Cowboy Breakfast”  before the timed event slack performance from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.  The cooks from the Chelan FFA Alumni will be turning out pancakes, eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy or breakfast sandwiches.  

The slack performance is free and is so that the contestants who can’t fit the performance into their travel schedule can still make the rodeo and kicks off at 9 a.m.

August 4  
A Blue and Gold Saturday Night—A tribute to the FFA is presented by Jim’s Pumping.  Jim’s Pumping is owned and operated by Jim and Jeannie Bishop.   They are long time supporters of the Chelan FFA and lifetime members of the Chelan FFA Alumni.  Their kids and grandkids were FFA members here in Chelan.  They provide complete sanitation services from septic pumping to portable toilets.     

The Grand Entry will feature local and state FFA Officers, a tribute to the FFA and FFA Advisors from around the state, visiting royalty and local dignitaries.  

Following the rodeo action the beer garden will stay open until 11:45 p.m. on Friday and Saturday with music so that you can party ‘till the cows come home.


Tickets are available at the Chelan Shell Foodmart.  Pre-sale only Family Passes for 2 Adults and 3 students for $35.  Adults are $11.  Students and Seniors are $7.  Children 6 and under are free.   

Free Parking for spectators. All Seats are general admission.

Professional bullfighter and rodeo clown Kyle Bode, will keep you in stitches.

The 2018 Lake Chelan Rodeo is produced by the Chelan FFA Alumni and all proceeds go to support the activities and members of the Chelan FFA Chapter.  

So shine up your boots, put on your jeans and bring your hollerin’ voice to the 2018 Lake Chelan Rodeo August 3 and 4 at the Rustlers Arena on Union Valley Road.
