Lake Chelan Senior Men’s Golf Division - June 26

Phil Clausen, a longtime Manson resident scored his first Hole-in-One on Hole #18 at the Lake Chelan Golf Course on Wednesday, June 26. His uphill 130 yard shot took place during regular play of the Lake Chelan Senior Men’s Golf Club.

CHELAN - The Senior Men’s Golf Club Members teed off at Lake Chelan Golf Course in beautiful weather on Wednesday, June 26.  Thirty-three members started play at 8:30 a.m. using a shotgun start.

The big news of the day was Phil Clausen scored a Hole-in-One on Hole #18.  Phil’s achievement will be celebrated by Club Members on July 3 after regular Club Play.

Tony Montoya reported he made a joint Senior Men’s Golf Club and Men’s Golf Club announcement on KOZI Radio’s 2nd Cup of Coffee Program.  Tony invited guests and prospective new members to join the Senior Men’s Play on Wednesdays and Men’s Club Play on Sundays at the Lake Chelan Golf Course.

The results of the Game Competitions from June 26 are as follow:
For the Odd Holes Less Half Your Handicap competition, the winners were Scott Patrick (1st Place – Score 35), Lyle Burns (2nd Place Tie), Phil Clausen (2nd Place Tie), and Gary Searle (3rd Place).
For the Low Net Score competition, the winners were Ed Ferguson (1st Place – Score 68), Mike Giffin (2nd Place), and John (Mr. VP) Hancock and Stefan Dobratz (Third Place Tie).  

The Chip Ins contest winners were Mike Storey and Darrell Simpson with one chip in each.  
The Closest to the Pin on Hole #2 contest, was won by Dan Dedo with a distance of 6’ 6”.  
The Mega Par 3 Closest to the Pin weekly game winners were Cliff House (Distance 14’ 1”), Dr. Darrell Richards (Distance 22’ ½”) and Bob Matson (Distance 29’ 7”).

Special game competition awards recognition was given to Ed Ferguson who won two competitions and to Mike Giffin who placed second in two competitions.  In addition, Scott Patrick recorded two chip ins and Phil Clausen recorded one chip in with his Hole-in-One shot.  (The Senior Men’s Golf Club rules only allow a member to win one game competition each week.)

Dr. Darrell Richards and Eric Lorenz the chairmen of the 2019 Memorial Match Play Tournament announced the matches would begin on July 11 and conclude on August 14.  The tournament has been changed from a double elimination to a single elimination format.
