City of Chelan Parks: Feb. 2

Learn about the cities Master Plan for the parks

CHELAN - The City of Chelan will hold a Parks Meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 2, 5-7 p.m. at Chelan City Hall for the public to learn about the Master Plan for the cities public parks. It will be a two part meeting: Part 1.  Designers working on a master plan for Chelan’s Public Waterfront will present their latest design iteration. The design incorporates public feedback from the last iteration, park survey results, professional design practices and departmental vision. Part 2. Parks Planners working on our overall Parks System Master Plan will present their findings to date. This will include results from the survey that residents filled out.

 COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics: Feb. 5

CHELAN - Lake Chelan EMS will have a COVID-19 Vaccine Drive-thru Clinic on Saturday, February 5, 9-11 a.m., at the Chelan Fire Station, 232 E. Wapato Ave., Chelan. Registration is available at https://lakechelanhealth.org/covid-19/

Glass recycle: Feb. 5

Volunteers needed

CHELAN - Rotary of Lake Chelan 911 Glass Rescue is open on Saturday mornings from 10 a.m.-noon, at 23235 Highway 97A across from WalMart, weather permitting. They are charging a small fee per pound for glass drop-off. Buckets of the materials produced, sand and aggregate, will be available for purchase at $5 per 5-gallon bucket. City of Chelan residents are asked not to put glass into their blue recycle bins, but to bring it out on Saturday mornings. Their all-volunteer team relies on support from members of the community to make the operation run smoothly every week. They have tasks suitable for all ages and abilities. Food Bank food distribution:

CHELAN - The Lake Chelan Food Bank food giveaway is on Saturday and Tuesday, 9-10 a.m. Distribution is  drive-thru. They are located at 417 S. Bradley Street. The Food Bank is getting requests for pet food. Small bags of dog food are best. They can be dropped of at the Lake Chelan Mirror office, 131 S. Apple Blossom Drive, Ste. 109 (Chelan Business Center.

Greater Wenatchee Mended Hearts meeting: Feb. 7

ZOOM MEETING - Greater Wenatchee Mended Hearts is inviting heart patients and their families in Chelan, Douglas, Grant and Okanogan Counties at attend the Monday, February 7 meeting, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., being held by Zoom  and join in the celebration of the Chapter’s 21st  Anniversary.  Members will share stories about why Mended Hearts is special to them    Ron Manriquez, National Board President of Mended Hearts, Inc. will also be attending and will talk about what’s happening at the national level and what to expect in 2022.   To attend, email: atthehelmsters@hotmail.com for access to the meeting.

ZOOM MEETING - The Wenatchee Valley Erratics, Ice Age Floods Institute’s next Zoom program will be Tuesday, February 8, 7 p.m. Dr. Rob Thomas, Regents Professor of Geology at the University of Montana, will discuss “The Geology of Yellowstone Country”. The Yellowstone Plateau volcanic field is one of the largest, most violent volcanic regions on earth.
