Music In The Park Summer Concerts: 
2 Concerts this weekend: Friday, Aug. 13, AND Sunday, Aug 15
 
CHELAN -  There will be 2 Music In The Park concerts this weekend, as Deseo Carmin will play Friday, August 20,  4-6 p.m.. (rescheduled from Aug. 1) AND on Sunday, August 15 The Kevin Jones Band will perform from 6-8 p.m. The band for Sept. 5 will be announced at  later date. Chelan County Sheriff meeting/New Laws: August 11
CHELAN - Join Sheriff Brian Burnett and the Chelan County Sheriff’s office for a review of the latest Legislative changes on Wednesday, August 11, 6 p.m. at Chelan County Fire District #7 - 232 E. Wapato Avenue. They will cover: What are the new laws? What do they mean? How will these changes affect you? There will be a Question and Answer time.

Virtual meeting on DOC Work Release proposal in Wenatchee: August 11
WENATCHEE - The Washington State Dept. of Corrections will hold a virtual public hearing, on Wednesday, August 11, 6-8 p.m., to consider two properties in Chelan County for a work release facility. The meeting is open to the public. Please visit: go.usa.gov/x6z7k to register and to receive virtual meeting link. Site locations under consideration are: Chelan County Regional Jail Annex, 401 Washington Street and Deaconess Building at 300 Okanogan.

Chelan Museum: August 11-14, 17-21
CHELAN - The Lake Chelan Museum is open Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Face masks will be required for those not fully vaccinated. The museum has been refreshed with paint, new displays and new signage and check out the 12 ft. tall Lake Chelan Historic Legend Map display. A 24” x 36” poster based on the display is available for purchase for $30. The Epson photo print depicts the lake in a vertical format along with relevant historic entries. Take a peek in the gift store and buy their latest 50th Anniversary History Notes or a Lake Chelan Historic Legend Map.

Manson Farmers Market:
August 11, 14
MANSON - The Manson Farmers Market is open on Wednesdays, 8:30-11:30 a.m. in the parking area near Alta Cellars. On Saturdays the market is open 8:30 a.m.-12 noon in the Manson Grange Parking lot. The market will run through Labor Day. For more information find them on Facebook.

August 12
CHELAN - The Citizens for Chelan Fire & Rescue are holding a special informational meeting for downtown Chelan businesses on Thursday, August 12, 8 a.m. on the upcoming Chelan Fire & Rescue Levy Lid Lift. The meeting will be held upstairs in the Chelan Public Library. Please let Erin McCardle of HDCA know if you plan on attending, so they can have enough handouts. Chelan Evening Farmers Market:
August 12
CHELAN -  Chelan Thursday Evening Farmers market is open thru Oct. 28, 2-6 p.m. and has expanded into Riverwalk Park. With more than 20 vendors and two food trucks, browse fresh, locally grown produce and a variety of goods from local  artisans. Although this is a Farmer-centric market, there is so much more. Enjoy the entertainment, picnic on prepared food or fresh  fruit and vegetables. Hand sanitizer is provided for your safety. The market is located on the corner of S. Road Biking Group: August 13, 16
MANSON/CHELAN - The 4th Quarter Road Biking Group (Formerly named the Seniors’ Road Biking Group) is inviting road bike and e-bike riders to join their riding group.  The bike riders meet at 9 a.m. in Manson or Chelan on Mondays and Fridays.  On the first Friday of every month the group meets at Pat & Mike’s store and they ride the South Shore of the lake. The rides are usually 90 -120 minutes in length and average 20-30 miles in distance.  The ride routes are pre-planned and include a few or several hill climbs.  Most of the rides are designed to minimize highway riding.  For more information contact Bob Matson at 509-888-1554 or matsonfamily4@aol.com.

911 Glass Rescue (recycle): August 14
CHELAN - Rotary of Lake Chelan 911 Glass Rescue is open on Saturday mornings from 8 a.m.-noon. They are charging 2 cents per pound for glass drop-off. Buckets of the materials produced, sand and aggregate, will be available for purchase at $5 per 5-gallon bucket. City of Chelan residents are asked not to put glass into their blue recycle bins, but to bring it out on Saturday mornings to 23235 Highway 97A across from WalMart.

Food Bank  food distribution:
August 14, 17
CHELAN - The Lake Chelan Food Bank food giveaway is on Saturday and Tuesday, 9-10 a.m. Distribution is drive-thru. They are located at 417 S. Bradley Street. The Food Bank is getting requests for pet food. Small bags of dog food are best. They can be dropped of at the Lake Chelan Mirror office, 310 E. Johnson Avenue in the tub outside.
 

American Red Cross Blood Drive:  August 18 Those donors who have received the COVID-19 vaccine will be asked which vaccine they received.

MANSON -  There will be an American Red Cross Blood drive on Wednesday, August 18, 1-6 p.m. at North Shore Bible Church, 123 Wapato Point Parkway. To donate, simply download the American Red Cross Blood Donor App, visit  RedCrossBlood.org, call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or enable the Blood Donor Skill on any Alexa Echo device to make an appointment or for more information. All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age in most states (16 with parental consent where allowed by state law), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.  Blood and platelet donors can save time at their next donation by using RapidPass® to complete their pre-donation reading and health history questionnaire online, on the day of their donation, before arriving at the blood drive. Back to School Fair: August 22
Volunteers needed
CHELAN - The 7th Annual Lake Chelan Valley Back to School Fair (BTSF) will be taking place on Sunday, August 22 from 1-4 p.m. at Mountain Goat Field parking lot near the Chelan Walmart. The BTSF team plans to distribute 500 backpacks filled with essential school supplies to students (PK-12th Grade) via a drive-thru distribution model. Thrive Chelan Valley is excited to collaborate with our 2021 BTSF sponsors (Coldwell Banker, CVCH Chelan, Dale and Tara Terwedo, North Cascades Bank and RealLife NCW) and our greater community to serve, empower and advocate for local youth, ensuring students have the school supplies they need as they head into another school year. The BTSF has historically been possible due to ongoing community support. Approximately 50 volunteers are needed on the day of the event to help with a variety of duties.
