Karen Sargeant hired as training officer/volunteer coordinator

Karen Sargeant, Manson Fire Dept. Training Officer / Volunteer Coordinator
MANSON - Chelan County Fire District 5 is pleased to announce the hiring of Karen Sargeant as their Training Officer / Volunteer Coordinator as a part-time position.
Karen has been a volunteer firefighter for Manson for the past three years, after several years of firefighting experience in Montana. Karen has a diverse training background in structural firefighting, wildland firefighting and a certified instructor. Together with leadership skills and organizational skills, she is a good fit to help firefighters move forward with their training requirements.
Manson Fire Department’s Chief Baker and Commissioners had been in discussion about the need for more firefighter certification. While the Manson volunteers are on the path of great training and experience, each individual firefighter can have a training plan tailored to their specific strengths and weaknesses to achieve their certifications in Structural Firefighting, Haz-Mat, and Wildland Firefighting. This builds a stronger service, safer firefighting work environment and protection to the community of Manson.
Karen will also coordinate volunteer programs and processes related to recruitment, selection, orientation and recognition of all classifications of volunteers.
