Roots Community School Participates in the ChelanMan Multisport Weekend

Posted

The Roots Community School is extremely grateful and humbled to be a Chelan Multisports Foundation grant recipient. The Roots Community School will be purchasing equipment/supplies and forming our Physical Education program with the grant received.

The school had yoga, and I think did a pretty good job piecing together some PE/sports activities during our first year open,  but this grant will help us build a more formal and well rounded PE program to ensure this important aspect of the kids education isn't overlooked.

Roots families were happy to give back by volunteering our time to support the ChelanMan races.

After watching the Chel anMan athletes on Saturday (July 21) and passing out medallions at the finish line, my kids could hardly wait for their own shot at a Triathlon on Sunday (July 22). They raced hard, raced safe, and earned their own ChelanMan finishers medallions.

The Chelan Valley has a strong sense of community, as evidenced by an organization and volunteers who will put so much work into an event then donate all the proceeds back into the youth of our Valley.  Roots Community School is proud to be part of this Chelan Valley Community.

Lake Chelan Multisport Foundation is a nonprofit organization in the Chelan Valley that hosts a weekend of triathlons and running events each summer.  All the profits from the weekend are donated to local youth programs. Roots Community School was one recipient of grant money from the Multisport Foundation.

Roots will use this grant money to purchase equipment for a Physical Education program, promote sport/activity in our student body and promote a lifelong love of health and wellness.  As a grant recipient, Roots was invited to volunteer at the ChelanMan.  Volunteer Coordinator Tara had the idea to place the Roots kids and parents at the finish line on Saturday to award medallions to race finishers. It was an early morning, but the kids had a great time, and from the look on many athletes faces, they enjoyed the smiling kids at the finish line as well.
