Vote for Manson Apple Blossom 2019 royalty at Selection on Jan. 26

Megan Clausen

Megan is the daughter of Sandra and Bruce Clausen and older sister to 9th grade brother, Conner.
She is ASB and FBLA Treasurer, as well as class Secretary and National Honor Society Vice-President. Her love for sports has allowed her to play for varsity volleyball, basketball, and softball teams; she has been captain of her volleyball and basketball teams for the past two years. A project she has enjoyed being involved in is her service project called “Glass to Sand at Lake Chelan”. Megan and her project partner, Devyn Smith, have worked over the past year to find ways on eliminating glass waste in the valley.
Megan also enjoys running, cross-country skiing, being out on the lake and boating up to Lucerne. After graduation, Megan plans to study engineering at one of the five universities she’s been accepted to and she’s most recently been drawn to civil and environmental engineering.
Megan’s favorite TV show is Gilmore Girls and she enjoys rereading the book “Love Does” by Bob Goff. Megan feels participating in Apple Blossom will allow her give back to the community of Manson that has helped her find her voice and is excited to represent and lead with that voice.

Vanessa Gomez

Vanessa is the 17-year old daughter of Mario and Carolina Gomez and has one older brother; 24-year-old Enereo and two older sisters, 22-year old Jessica and 19-year-old Lissette, and one younger sister, 12-year-old Maria.
Vanessa has been an honor roll student throughout her high-school career and became part of The National Society of High School Scholars her senior year. She participated in Knowledge Bowl her freshman year, member of Me 2 We club her freshman and sophomore years. She is also a member of Future Business Leaders of America. In addition, Vanessa has participated in basketball her freshman, sophomore and senior years and was a cheerleader her senior year.
In her spare time Vanessa enjoys listening to music, watching and playing sports, spending time with her family and friends, gardening with her dad, and binge-watching Grey’s Anatomy.
Vanessa plans on attending Central Washington University and majoring in marketing  management and minoring in advertising.
Vanessa’s favorite TV show is Grey’s Anatomy and her favorite novel is Me Before You.
When asked about why she wanted to be part of the Manson Apple Blossom Royal Court, Vanessa said, “From previous royalties I have learned that becoming Manson Apple Blossom Royalty entails many responsibilities. A Manson Apple Blossom Royalty must become a model citizen, a spokesperson for the Manson community and most importantly show integrity towards our community. I am humbled at the opportunity to be a part of such a rewarding program and it would be of the utmost privilege to be part of the royal court.”

Marisol Mendoza

Marisol is the 17-year-old daughter of Antonio Mendoza and Erika Paniagua.  She has one older brother, 19-year-old Marco Mendoza that attends Eastern Washington University, and one younger brother, 11-year-old Fernando Mendoza and one younger sister, 9 year-old Sarita Mendoza.
 Marisol has played 4 years of Manson High School soccer and she is involved with the club, Jobs for American Graduates. Apart from that she also was the manager for the Boys soccer team. In her spare time, she enjoys practicing her soccer skills, drawing perfect portraits of people, taking stunning pictures of family and friends, and spending time with her older brother, Marco.
After graduation, her future is to attend a four-year University to major in Modern Languages & Literatures.
Marisol’s favorite show to watch on her down time is The Flash and her favorite movie is The Book of Life. Her favorite song is “Moonchild” by RM.
The person that inspires her the most is her dad, not only because he is very hard working, but because he never gives up in any situation that he sets his mind on accomplishing. Marisol’s most treasured keepsake is her little Mexican bracelets that were gifted to her by her grandmother when she was a small little girl. Marisol’s favorite thing to do in the Manson area is enjoying the time she spends with family, whether it be enjoying the lake on a hot summers day or even picking cherries  in the orchard fields. While she has many memories her proudest moment in life was being awarded most inspirational for the varsity girls’ soccer team. Marisol believes she is an outgoing, heartfelt, loving individual and a good role model and leader for the younger kids in the community. She would be honored to represent the Manson community as the Manson Apple Blossom Royalty.

Devyn Smith

Devyn is the daughter of Dallas Lewman and David Pletsch.  Devyn has 2 brothers Damon and Dawson and a sister Denali.
She has been actively involved in Honors Society for the past two years, holding the position of secretary her senior year.  She is active in Future Business Leaders of America, competing at the state level in business ethics last year.  Her senior year she also holds the position of secretary for FBLA.  For her senior project this year, she helped start Glass to Sand with fellow classmate Megan, which focuses on sustainable glass recycling.  Devyn is active in sports, playing volleyball and softball through her high school career, and has earned honorable mention for all league softball her sophomore year.  She has also volunteered running an aid station at the Chelanman multisport weekend throughout middle school and high school.  In her spare time, she enjoys reading, archery, painting, enjoying the outdoors with her dog, and spending time with her family.
As a fifth generation Manson resident, and spending summers working in the tourism industry, Devyn knows how it feels to be enchanted with Manson and the beauty of our surrounding area.  Being a part of the Manson Apple Blossom Royalty is a great opportunity to be able share with others what makes Manson a wonderful place to have grown up in, live, and represent, as well as a role model for younger children.
Devyn’s favorite TV show is MASH, and her favorite book is the End Game series.  After graduation she plans to major in physical therapy or sports medicine, which was inspired by all the great physical therapists that helped her when she tore her ACL her junior year.  
 

Perla Viviana Villasenor 

Perla is the 18-year-old daughter of Gerardo Villasenor and Yadira Anaya and has two sisters and one brother; 21-year-old Jessica, 16-year-old Monse and 10-year-old Jerry.  
 Perla has been an honor roll student throughout her high school career. 
She also was a member of Future Business Leaders of America her senior year, Me2We her sophomore and junior year, Knowledge Bowl her freshman year. Perla also served as Class President her senior year. 
In addition, Perla has participated in winter cheerleading her freshman year, basketball all of her high school career, Soccer her freshman, sophomore and junior years and softball her sophomore and senior years. She was also Manson High School’s Homecoming Queen in 2018. 
 In her spare time, Perla enjoys being outdoors, listening to music and spending time with friends and family. Some of her other hobbies include painting, photography and cooking. After graduating, Perla plans to attend Central Washington University, and hopes to become an elementary teacher. Perla’s favorite TV show is Greys Anatomy and her favorite novel is the House of Night series.
  Why do I want to be apple blossom royalty? 
“I would want to represent the community I love by being a role model to all the little girls watching and looking up to the royalty by showing that with hard work anything can be achieved.”
