Brewster hosts WSBCA All-State Series feeder game

BREWSTER – For the third time since 2019, Brewster hosted the Washington State Baseball Coaches Association (WSBCA) college feeder game recently bringing together senior players from area schools competing for selection for the All-State Series in Yakima later this month.

Among those who played and was selected as a nominee to the All-State selection committee was Brewster’s AJ Woodward who pitched for the state championship Bears team this season.

“This year the game had a total of 31 participants from Brewster, Bridgeport, Chelan, Ellensburg, Ephrata, Liberty Bell, Okanogan, Royal, Quincy and Waterville,” said Brewster head coach Todd Phillips. “The two teams were coached by Dave Howe and Craig Fingar of Okanogan and Mike Kelly of Brewster.”

Players nominated to All-State selection committee included:

AJ Woodward of Brewster

Reed Stamps of Chelan

Ryker Fortier, Cade Gibson and Riley Gibson of Ellensburg

Winston Roberts and Tyson Laugen of Ephrata

Noah Holston of Liberty Bell

Derek Bergeson and Gage Jenks of Royal

Gavin Longwill of Quincy. 

An offensive and defensive Most Valuable Player were also selected from the game.  

The Offensive MVP was Reed Stamps of Chelan who went two-for-two at the plate with three RBIs, a double and two runs scored. 

Winston Roberts from Ephrata was the Defensive MVP. Roberts pitched two innings, striking out six straight batters.  

The All-State Series will be played in Yakima on June 25-26.
