Chelan Girls Basketball - May 28 wrapup

Posted

Recap of Friday, May 28 Varsity Girls game against Ephrata:

We knew Ephrata was going to be tough as they played with Cashmere in their opener last Saturday. Ephrata liked to set high curl screen cuts and attack the hoop. Even though Ephrata was missing their leading scorer to a knee injury Ephrata had several sharp shooters in which we were able to defend with lots of on ball and off ball pressure. This  made it tough for them to shoot from the outside. We sent them to the foul line more than we had hoped in the first half and found ourselves down by 1 at the end of the first half.
In the second half Chelan dig deep and increased the man to man pressure to full court. We were able to force turnovers and give us some more opportunities on offense. We gradually started to pull away and found ourselves with an 11 point lead at the end of 3 quarters. In the 4th quarter we were disciplined in how we took care of the ball and were able to burn a lot of clock on many of our possessions. The final score was Chelan 60 and Ephrata 47.
Joslynn Simmons led Chelan in scoring with 13. 11 of those were in the first quarter. Aliyah Finch and Booh Huddleston each contributed 11. Kira Sandoval added 9. Katie Rainville with 8. Haley Watson with 7 and Olivia Strandberg with 1.
