Chelan golf travels to Leavenworth, hosts Quincy

Posted

LEAVENWORTH - Chelan traveled to Leavenworth for a league matchup with Cascade today under beautiful skies and calm weather.  Chelan was able to take team honors on the boys side with a score of 362 to Cascade's 417.  Taking the top two individual spots were Chelan's Miles Grossberg (soph) with a 7-over par 78, and Joey Gasper with an 81, his best of the season.  Chelan had a number of players getting PRs today, and that's great to see some scores coming down as we near the end of the season.
For the girls, Chelan was not able to field enough players for a team score, but Chelan's Kaylin Boykin (jr) took individual honors shooting a 96, just one off of her best of the season.  Andrea Villa (sr) also came in with a great day for her, shooting a PR 105,

Chelan turns right around and hosts Quincy on Wednesday for a non-league home match, and then the boys varsity will be at the Jack Barnes Invitational on Saturday at Three Lakes Golf Course in Malaga (a tournament that had to be rescheduled due to the unusual weather this spring).  The boys varsity will also be traveling to Suncadia for an invitational tournament next week Tuesday, followed by our last regular-season match and senior recognition on Thursday, May 9.

Chelan Golf hosts Quincy

CHELAN - Chelan HS golf team hosted the team from Quincy this afternoon, May 1 at the Lake Chelan GC.  The day started off looking ominous, but the clouds cleared and the temperature stayed quite moderate.  The Quincy boys team took honors today, besting Chelan by just 6 strokes, 387 to Chelan’s 393.    Individual medalist was Quincy’s Nate Gonzalez with an 88, followed by Chelan’s Joey Gasper (fr) with a 92 and David Chavez (jr) with a 95.

For the girls, there was no team score as neither team had enough varsity players; individual medalist was Chelan’s Kaylin Boykin (jr) with another good day and good score of 96.

The Chelan varsity boys will next be in action this Saturday at the rescheduled Jack Barnes Invitational at the Three Lakes GC in Malaga, followed next Tuesday by the Suncadia Boys Invitational.  Then the whole team will once again be at it as we host our last regular season match on May 9th when Wenatchee and Omak come to town.  This will also be when we honor our three senior golfers.

The District 6 golf match will be hosted by Chelan on Tuesday, May 14 with first tee-offs beginning at noon.  This will determine both the boys and girls team League & District Champs, and also serve as the selection process for which individuals make it to state competition.
