Chelan High School Girls Soccer Nov. 4 game recap

Posted

CHELAN - It was a rainy, dreary afternoon at Mountain Goat Field in Chelan (Nov. 4).  After playing a hard-fought match against the #1 ranked Cashmere Bulldogs, the Goats were hosting the Cascade Kodiaks.  The Goats had split with the Kodiaks earlier this season in league play. The Goats knew it was going to be a battle from the start.
The Goats came out hard and put pressure onto the Kodiaks getting a few early looks on the field.  An unfortunate foul in the box allowed the Kodiaks to be given the chance to score off of a PK.  The Kodiaks were able to finish the ball to get the Kodiaks the 1-0 lead.  The Goats were able to get a few more opportunities, however were not able to find the back of the net in the first half.
Going into the second half the Goats knew they needed to step it up and play their game.  Unfortunately, the Kodiaks were able to capitalize on a few mistakes made by the Goats.  With two more goals by the Kodiaks to give them the 3-0 lead.  A few more chances were bounced around the box, but the Goats were not able to finish those chances.
With the loss to the Kodiaks, the Goats season had ended.  With the end of the season the Goats will look towards what they can do to improve going into next year’s season.
The Goats will miss the graduating Seniors, 4 year starter- Yennifer Sanchez, 2 year starter- Aliyah Finch, 1 year starter- Makayla Griffith and 1st year player Neida Vargas.  The Goats know there will be some big shoes to fill but will continue to work to make the next season better than this.
The Goats finished 11-7 being ranked 12th in state at one point.
Thank you to all the Goat supporters this season.  Go Goats.
