Vs. Omak Pioneers,

OMAK - This evening (Oct. 19) the Goats traveled to Omak to take on the Pioneers.  This was the two team’s second meeting in the last round of conference play.  It wasn’t long into the game that the Goats were putting pressure on the Pioneers.  With multiple opportunities off of corner kicks the Goats were able to capitalize on a left footed service from Junior Kenia Sanchez across the box, where Junior Arden Paglia finished the ball into the back of the net.
The Goats continued to put pressure on the Pioneers and were able to score twice more.  First in the 21st minute with a ball sent from Sophomore Jailyn Reinhart to Senior Yennifer Sanchez who slid the ball past the keeper to give the Goats the 2-0 lead.  To finish off the first half Arden Paglia found Junior Irene Hernandez who added to their lead.
“At half we knew we were going to have to continue to work hard and keep control of the ball,” stated head coach, Amaris Longmire.  In the 51st minute Reinhart dribbled the ball down the left side of the field and sent the ball across the goal. The cross ended up in the side net giving the Goats another goal.  In the 70th minute Paglia assisted Hernandez with the Goats 5th goal and again in the 73rd minute Paglia assisted Sanchez with the final goal for the Goats.
The Pioneers were able to sneak two goals.  The final for the game was 6-2. The Lady Goats  hosted number 1 in the CTL, Cashmere Bulldogs on Thursday (Oct.21). The JV will game followed.
 JV action:
The Goats JV team took on the Pioneers in a shortened half and were able to come out with the 3-0 victory.  Scoring for the Goats was freshman Melissa Anaya, freshman Oliva Nelson and yunior Kyleigh Kiefer.  The Goats were only able to get in 30 minutes of one half as the sun had set and lights were not available.

Vs. Cashmere Bulldogs

CHELAN - Today (Oct. 21) was the Goat’s final home league match at Mountain Goat Field. The starting lineup for the Goats featured each player walking out with an elementary aged, future high school Goat as the introductions took place. All of the young, female athletes received a signed mini soccer ball as a game souvenir.
The Goats hosted the Cashmere Bulldogs for the second time this season and knew they were going to have to work through every play.  The Bulldogs are one of the top-rated teams in the 1A girl’s soccer division. They have played many other ranked teams and dominated.  In the last meeting against the Bulldog’s they fell 9-1.  Today’s match was a different story.
The Goats prepared well for what was to come and made adjustments and watched game film based on their last meeting. Knowing the Bulldogs are a solid team all around the Goats adjusted their attack on them.  The Goats were able to play a very physical game against the Bulldogs and hold them to two goals on the match.
The first Bulldog goal came 4 minutes into the match off of a rebound from a penalty kick that Senior goal keeper Aliyah Finch blocked and Carly Diaz cleaned up. The Bulldog second goal was produced off of combination play.
At half the Goats were only down 1-0 which was a major turn-around from the last match being down 6-0.  The Goats discussed what they would need to do to hold their attack. They knew they were going to need to keep taking the ball to the end line as they already had a near goal  off of a corner kick.
Overall, the Goats played a hard-fought match and were able to control aspects of the game. “As a coach I am very proud of the work these ladies have put in over the past few weeks to overcome our previous match against the Bulldogs,” explained Head Coach Amaris Longmire.
This week the Goats travel to Quincy for their final CTL match.  The final game will determine if they are in 2nd place in CTL play.  With a 2nd place finish the Goats would meet the Bulldogs again at a neutral site at the Apple Bowl in Wenatchee for the district title.  The winner will move onto regionals and the looser will host the #3 seed.
 JV Action:
The JV was able to get in a shortened match against the Bulldogs as well.  Immediately following the varsity match the JV took the field in a back-and-forth battle.  It wasn’t until the 2nd half when the Bulldogs were able to sneak one past and gain the 1-0 lead.  The Goats JV is looking to have one more match on the season in a second round match against Omak.
