Chelan High School Tennis - results for April 18 and April 21

Posted
Saturday, April 18
MOSES LAKE/EPHRATA - Chelan traveled to both 2A Ephrata and 4A Moses Lake today for a rare two-location double header.  We had great tennis, hot weather and 1A Chelan performed well against these two larger schools.  Our young team is battling, growing and picking up big wins.  Most kids played two or three matches today, giving the feel of a typical spring tournament.

Tonasket at Chelan,
April 21
In tennis, there’s this elusive thing called a “Golden Set”.  It means winning a set without losing a single point.  That’s 24 straight points.  I’ve never seen one in my 25 year coaching career.  Elle Rothlisberger did more than that - she played a “Golden Match”.  She played two straight Golden Sets, winning 48 straight points.  This was unicorn tennis.
Girls: Chelan 5, Tonasket 0
#1 Singles:  Bella Gatzemeier def Skylar Hardesty 7-6(8-6), 6-3 <This was likely the most impressive singles win of Bella’s high school career.  She played GREAT tennis and beat a quality opponent.>
#2 Singles:  Elle Rothlisberger def Maya Jones 6-0, 6-0
#3 Singles:  Ally Williams def Grace McIsaac 6-0, 6-0
#1 Doubles:  Piper Grossberg/Ruby Wier def Yamilet Reyes/Esperanza Gonzalez 6-0, 6-1
#2 Doubles:  Caelan Rothlisberger/Olivia Strandberg won by forfeit
Boys: Chelan 3, Tonasket 2
#1 Singles:  Connor Hardesty (T) def Nate Harding 6-3, 4-6, 6-2
#2 Singles:  Charlie Border (C) def Owen Pershing 6-1, 6-4
#3 Singles:  Cody Sanderson (C) def Lukes Godwin 6-0, 6-2
#1 Doubles:  Alex Owsley/Josh Bello (T) def Teagen Moody/Rylen Moody 6-1, 6-0
#2 Doubles:  Luke Christopherson/Sam Bordner (C) def Waylon Thomas/Cesar Alatorre 6-3, 7-5
I’m very proud of our young Chelan boys team tonight.  This quickly improving team with no seniors managed a win against a more experienced opponent!
April 24 schedule was Chelan at Wenatchee (9 a.m.) and at Eastmont (2 p.m.).
