Chelan Holiday Hoops Tournament brings two nights of action

Posted

CHELAN – The Goats hosted their seventh annual ‘Holiday Hoops Tournament’ beginning early afternoon Wednesday, Dec. 27 and concluded Thursday night, Dec. 28, with a championship match between both boys and girls’ Goats against Adna.
The Lady Goats welcomed the Lady Lions, of Concrete, for their first game Wednesday. Chelan successfully sank multiple three-pointers, managed multiple steals and ultimately denied the Lions any points by the end of the first half. With a final score of 64-4, the Lady Goats would go on to play the Lady Pirates, of Adna, for the championship the next night, which the Lady Goats won, blowing Adna out with a final score of 52-25.
In the boys’ hoops, Chelan took on the Life Christian Eagles in their first match-up of the tournament. The intensive battle continued through the quarters, resulting in a victory for the goats with a final score of 55-53, advancing Chelan into a championship match with Adna. The championship match was a hard-fought, defensive battle for the Goats, who were accurate with shots and aggressive defensively against the Adna Pirates. The Pirates’ fast ball handling and on-point shooting, however, proved to be a difficult challenge for the Goats. After four nail-biting quarters, the Goats were unable to make a gain on the Pirates, concluding the championship game with a final score of Goats 47 to the Pirates’ 68.
The Goats will travel to the Cascade Kodiaks in Leavenworth for their next games, Wednesday, Jan. 3 beginning with girls’ varsity at 6 p.m.
