Posted

CHELAN - The Lady Goats hosted the Kodiaks from Cascade tonight (Jan. 31) in the final contest of the year between the two teams.  The first quarter Chelan failed to execute a few changes to their full court pressure and Cascade made them pay.  Cascade was able to get a couple wide open layins as Chelan was scrambling back on defense.  At the end of the 1st quarter the score was 14-10.
Chelan adjusted their defense and only allowed Cascade to score 1 more field goal during the entire game.  Chelan’s Booh Huddleston and Joslynn Simmons each connected on long balls in the 2nd quarter while the inside game was also clicking.  It was 29-14 at the half.
The Lady Goats set a goal for themselves at half, “do not let them score 20.”  Chelan buckled down and applied a tremendous amount of pressure on the ball and denied passing lanes.  Matea Ivory kept attacking the basket and shot ten free throws in the quarter, making seven of them.  She also chipped in a couple field goals.  Ivory scored 11 points in the 3rd.  Chelan posted 26 points in the quarter and led 55-14 at the end of the 3rd.
The clock ran in the 4th quarter and Chelan’s bench saw some court time.  Kira Sandoval walked onto the floor and scored 4 points within fifteen seconds.  Chelan finished with a 66-16 win only giving up 2 free throws in the second half.
Ivory - 15, Finch - 5, Huddleston - 8, Watson - 9, Rainville - 7, Sandoval - 4, Simmons - 8, Sams - 10

Chelan beats Okanogan 47-36

CHELAN - Chelan hosted the Bulldogs of Okanogan tonight in a CTL matchup.  Chelan entered the game playing some of their best basketball of the season.  The girls are settled into their roles and the coaches have figured out good rotations.  Chelan jumped out to an early lead by sharing the ball between their bigs and smalls.  Booh Huddleston and Matea Ivory connected from deep while Ashley Sams and Katie Rainville owned the paint.  The score after 1 quarter was 17-7.  The 2nd quarter Okanogan applied more pressure and rattled Chelan who only scored 3 points in the quarter.  Okanogan was able to get some easy baskets and clawed back to within 3 points, 20-17 at halftime.  Chelan changed up defense and Huddleston put up 10 points in the 3rd quarter to outscore the Bulldogs by 8 points.  At the end of the 3rd it was 36-24.  The 4th quarter was a stalemate and Chelan ended with a 47-36 victory.  The girls shared the ball well and played great team defense.  The Lady Goats host Cascade on Friday in another CTL matchup.
