MANSON – Head Coach Steve Nygreen leads the Lady Trojans into their 2021-2022 season with five returning players: seniors Maycee Ward, Lauren Soliday and Katie Gosvener, junior Jenny Juarez sophomore Natalee Reyna. New to the team this year are: eighth grader, Phinley Teague and Isabella Wisdom, and freshman Genesis Torres, Afton Torgesen, Lydia Petersen, Camille Hutton and Brynn Williams.
The numbers are about equal from previous seasons. According to MaxPreps, last season the Lady Trojans finished 4-8 with an overall of 3-3 standing under Coach Sivertson. The Mirror asked Coach Nygreen who he thought the toughest team(s) to beat this year is (are) and Nygreen said, “Everyone. We were 4-8. Okanogan, Lake Roosevelt, Brewster, Liberty Bell and Tonasket…we have a very strong league.”
The Mirror also asked who Coach Nygreen saw as his standouts this year and he stated, “Our three seniors. (We are) excited to be back to a more normal year, excited to see how much we can grow.”
The Lady Trojans are off to a great start with a 52-34 win over Bridgeport and a 48-31 win over Soap Lake.
Dec. 4 recap: The Manson Trojans travelled to Soap Lake for a non-conference game this last Saturday, December 4. Confounded by the zone early, Manson used an 18 point 4th quarter to pull away for the victory. Manson used balanced scoring and turnover free basketball to offset a rough shooting night.
"We were a little short handed... very proud of the kids for gutting out the win. We got a lot of help from our younger players including a couple of our 8th graders..." said Manson Head Coach Steve Nygreen.

Dec. 14 recap: The Lady Trojans hosted Almira-Coulee Hartline in a non-league game Tuesday night, Dec. 14. Manson couldn’t find a bucket early as cold shooting doomed the Trojans on a night their zone defense proved very difficult to solve. The Trojans were down double-digits before they could get their 2nd bucket and ultimately fell 54-22.
“Good moments on defense... offense will come as we get more experience. Reyna, Soliday and Hutton did a great job on the boards in the 2nd half,” said Manson Head Coach Steve Nygreen.

Dec. 17 recap: The Lady Trojans travelled to Tonasket Friday night. Manson moved to ball through the press but shot cold to start the game before finding themselves down double digits in the first half. The Trojans struggled to get going on offense until late in the 4th and were ultimately defeated 64-25
