ENTIAT - Heather Long, head coach of Entiat High’s volleyball team has been coaching for 10 years and is assisted by Karen Lopez who is in her second year of coaching. The Entiat Tigers have three returning starters this year: seniors Savannah Thrift and Vanicia Cole and returning sophomore Jordan Long. There are three new players to the team this year: senior Melissa Swanson-Hill and juniors Kaylee Darlington and Caylee Johnson.
When asked how the Tigers did last season Coach Long says, “We did okay, had a few of our games cancelled due to a shortage in referees.  (It’s) hard to really evaluate our team when we weren’t playing a pre-season or our regular league schedule.”
Who do you see as your toughest team(s) to beat this year?  “Pateros is always circled on our schedule but already in the scores I have seen, MLCA (Moses Lake Christian Academy) and Wilson Creek will be some tough competition.”
When asked who she thought were standouts this year Coach Long said, “any of my starters could have a great game on any night.  This year we are pretty even when it comes to players making plays.  When all of them are having a great game at the same time.  It’s awesome to watch.”
Comments on this season: (We are) “excited to be back to playing a regular season. Kids are excited to be playing again with a possibility of a post season.  My hope is everyone continues to do what needs to be done to keep having game
