CHELAN - Tonight, the Goats were hosting the Omak Pioneers for their final regular season match of the year.  With the weather changing it was going to be a cold night for soccer.  The Goats would be honoring their eight seniors at the conclusion of the match. Prior to the match beginning the Goats would honor their foreign exchange student Senior Olga Filipovic with the playing of her national anthem. Filipovic joined the team this season as she is here in Chelan on exchange from Sweden.
All eight seniors would get the start for their final home match on Mt. Goat Field. The Goats would come out strong and would move the ball effortlessly around the field. With multiple chances to open up scoring it wouldn’t be till the 10th minute of play when Junior Maya Cowan would find the back of the net with a shot from outside the 18 off an attempted clearance from the Pioneers. Eight minutes later Junior Jailyn Reinhart would take a ball down the left side of the field, with space she sent a ball across the face of the goal and into the back of the net. This would give the Goats a 2-0 lead going into half.
With a 2-0 lead being the most dangerous lead to have, the Goats knew they would need to keep attacking to gain a more comfortable lead.  In the 53rd minute of play, a foul would occur outside the box. Senior Arden Paglia would step up and take the shot sending the ball past the Goalkeeper extending the Goats league.
Unfortunately, the Pioneers would be awarded 2 different free kick situations and would place two well struck balls in the back of the net. However, once this occurred it sparked the Goats to gain back control and get the goals back. Junior Maya Cowan would receive a ball from Senior Kenia Sanchez and would again find the back of the net. A few minutes later Cowan would again score, giving her a hat trick for the day. Her second of the year. The assist for the fifth goal was awarded to Senior Joslynn Simmons. The final goal of the match would come from Senior Kyleigh Keifer who would receive a through ball from Maya Cowan. Kiefer would get her first goal of the season on Senior night.
With the conclusion of the match the eight Goat seniors would be honored for their achievements over the last four years in Chelan Soccer. This senior class will be missed as they will be leaving a legacy of what Chelan Soccer is made of. The senior class has contributed to the best overall finish and record for Chelan Soccer to date.
The Goats regular season ended with a record of 9-6-1, the season continued on Saturday, Oct. 29, at the Apple Bowl (Wenatchee).
