Goats soccer beat Cashmere and Okanogan

Ready for playoffs against Oroville

Freshman Martic Castro just misses his stab as the Cashmere defender clears the ball out of his side of the field.

Salvador Villanueva (12) takes a corner kick against Cashmere in the first half. Although the Goats didn’t get a score until the second half, they kept the pressure on throughout with several opportunities.

Rafa Barajas (14) gets the ball and dribbles past a Cashmere defender before losing it in the penalty area.

Christian Barajas (10) tries to maneuver past a Cashmere defender after getting the ball in the box, moments later Barajas took an elbow to the face while trying to cut inside.

CHELAN - The Goats soccer team might be squarely in second place in the CTL 1A division, but they got over the hump - so-to-speak - against Cashmere.

After losing in a 1-0 heartbreaker earlier in the year in Cashmere, Chelan returned the favor to the Bulldogs in similar fashion, winning by a final score of 1-0 on Tuesday, April 25.

However, as the score would tell you, it wasn’t easy.

Chelan had to work for every shot they had and the game even got a little physical as the rivals looked for any opportunity to score. Still, Chelan controlled the ball for the majority of the game they just had a tough time piecing together a nice run with a good through ball.

Both teams headed into half tied, but Chelan was able to pull ahead in the second and control the ball the rest of the game to take the win and even the season match up.

The Goats then traveled up to Okanogan on Thursday, April 27 and beat the Bulldogs by a final score of 3-1.

Chelan took on Cascade in a rubber match on Tuesday, May 2. Chelan will wait to see who they play next week in the Regional at the Apple Bowl in Wenatchee.
