CHELAN - In addition to the track and tennis athletes competing in state this past week were the Chelan Goats golf team, who send four of their golfers to compete in the boys and girls state golf tournaments.

Myranda Evans, Madi Harrison and Annika Nolen competed at the Horn Rapids Golf Course in West Richland for the girls state tournament and Corbin Morley played at Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco for the boys.

Evans and Harrison both made the cut and qualified for the second day of competition after shooting a pair of 96 on Tuesday, May 23.

On the second day, Evans started off great with a 41 through the first nine holes, but fell off in the back-nine and finished with a 92 on her round and a 188 total score for both days, good for 19th place.

Harrison struggled in the wind the second day and finished with a 55-55 for a 110 on her round and 37th place overall. Both girls combined for a 7th place team finish.

Nolen was the lone girl competitor to not qualify for the second day after finishing with a 117 on her first round. Nolan tied for 68th place.

Similar to Nolen, Morley missed the cut as well for the second day of competition, although only by one stroke after coming in the clubhouse with 86, the cut was 85.

Ultimately, Morley played well throughout his round, just had a couple of blips on two holes which proved to be the difference. He officially tied for 42nd place.

“I’m very proud of these golfers. Just making it to State is a real accomplishment, and it was very encouraging to see these golfers excel in this way,” head coach Kirk Einspahr said. “Thanks to you all of you who have read and followed along with our season this year.”
