Posted

Sept. 22
Tonight, the Goats opened up CTL action against the defending league champion Cashmere Bulldogs.  Going into tonight’s match both teams knew it was going to be a hard-fought battle the entire time.  Both teams came out strong from the first kick, with the ball moving back and forth to both sides of the field.
Early on the Bulldogs put some pressure on the Goats but were held off by a very strong Defense of Senior Joslynn Simmons, Junior Madi Barker, Junior Arabelle Finch and Senior Kenia Sanchez.  The back line was able to work together to keep a clean sheet for the first 32 minutes of the match.  It wasn’t until the Bulldogs got a corner kick opportunity that set up the first goal for the Bulldogs taking them into halftime with the 1-0 lead.
The Goats knew they still had a fighting chance to comeback and put a goal or two into the back of the net. Unfortunately, even with the Goats battling hard it was still not enough.  The Bulldogs were able to counter quickly a few times off of an attack and get two more goals.  However, the Goats continued to keep battling hard and press on.  The Goats had a number of quality opportunities that were well defended by the Bulldogs. The Goats are on the road this week for a single game at Quincy on Tuesday, Sept. 27.

Tonight, the Goats battled the visiting Okanogan Bulldogs. Going into the match the Goats knew it was going to be a challenge. The Bulldogs came out strong and caught the Goats on their heels in the first minute and were able to get an early lead. Following the goal, it was a back-and-forth battle between the Goats and Bulldogs.
At half the Goats regrouped and talked about strategies to expose the weaknesses of the solid Bulldogs. Sophomore Taylor Hatherell made a great attacking run towards the goal. The Bulldogs defender came out hard and took Taylor out but not before she was able to get a pass off to Senior Olga Filipovic coming in on the right outside mid. Olga was able to get a touch on the ball.  However, the Bulldog goal keeper came out hard and leveled Olga. With the foul occurring inside the box the Goats were awarded a PK. Putting Junior Maya Cowan on the line. Maya was able to drill the ball past the keeper. With the tie now in hand it gave the Goats an extra spark.
Moving closer to the end of the match the Bulldogs were able to make some well combined passes and get two more goals. The final result was a 3-1 loss for the Goats. Much was learned against a very solid Bulldog team, who’s starting lineup consists of 10 seniors.
