Posted

MANSON - The Manson boys track and field team took home the NCW 2B championships on their own track on May 8. Manson ended the evening with 137 points to Oroville's 117.5 and Brewster's 117.  It is the 2nd time in 3 years the boys team has won the championship.

It was a total team effort as 14 different boys placed in the top 8 to score points for the team.  Some of the notable results include:

Connor Torgesen winning the 400m
Grant Torgesen took the individual title in the 3200.
JoJo Morales tossing a 4 foot personal best in the shot put for 3rd place.
Jose Pascasio just missing the school record in the javelin, but throwing a 12 foot personal best for 3rd place.

Additional top 3 finishers-
Cole Beazley- 2nd in the 300m hurdles
Bailey Cameron- 2nd in the 1600m
Braden Getzin- 3rd in the triple jump
Boys 4x100 and 4x400 both placed 3rd.
Connor Torgesen - 2nd in the 800m

The girls competed as well and finished in 5th place as a team.  Moving onto districts next week include the following-
The 4x200 and 4x400 relay teams
Kendall Petre in the high jump, 200m and 400m
Cara Hutton in the 1600
Evelyn De Jesus in the long jump and triple jump

To show how great the athletes competed, there were 28 total personal best results recorded in the meet.

The coaches would like to thank the many volunteers who helped out at the meet.  We had over 50 volunteers there, including the Manson baseball team (which sacrificed a day of practice), to make the event happen.

The next meet is on Friday, May 17 in Quincy.  It is our district championship and will determine the state meet qualifiers.  Top 5 boys and top 4 girls in each event move onto the state meet.
