Manson High School Varsity Volleyball

Q & A with Coach Thompson

Posted
MANSON – Guiding the Lady Trojans is returning coach Hayli Thompson assisted by coaches Ellen Picton (8th season), Brittany Sivertson (4th season) and Javes Escalera.
Returning to the court this season are: seniors Maycee Ward and Josephine Thompson, juniors Mackenzie Marble and Barbie Espinoza and sophomores Natalee Reyna and Teagan Byquist. For first year varsity players the Trojans welcome freshmen Lydia Peterson, Camille Hutton, Stella Petersen and Genesis Torres. Coach Thompson says this is the largest turn out of athletes that she has ever had.
Last year the lady Trojans were undefeated in their “modified tier league” and with plenty of talent this year they are hopeful to keep that going.
When asked who were the toughest team(s) to beat this season Coach Thompson lists Lake Roosevelt, Brewster, Okanogan (in league) and state level teams as well.
Standouts of the season: Freshmen Libero Genesis Torres, M.B. Stella Petersen, O.H. Lydia Petersen, Seniors O.H. Maycee Ward and Setter Josephine Thompson but says, “We are a team full of standouts.”
Coach Thompson says, “I am excited to be on this journey with this incredible group of girls- they are fun to be around, they work hard and they want to win. They are young, but talented and we will push to go as far as we can!” Going on that, “we are currently 2-0 in league after beating Liberty Bell and Tonasket last week - we travel to Lake Roosevelt and host Oroville this week.”
The Manson Trojan’s schedule can be found at mansontrojans.com and lists updates, pictures as well as statistics. Also find them on their facebook page Manson Trojan Volleyball.
