MHS Soccer outplays Tigers, wins match 1-0

MANSON - The soccer team played their most complete game of the season at the perfect time.  Ephrata traveled to Manson Saturday, April 24 as a decided favorite however Manson outplayed the Tigers for 80 minutes and held on late for a 1-0 victory.

The Manson defense shined all day as they shutout the Tigers.  Goalie Hervin Chavez played his second great game in a row.  The defense is led by seniors Isai Rodriguez, Junior Vargas, Jonathan Sarmiento and Caden Beazley.  The defensive play of the day came from Isai Rodriguez dove to head a ball just before it bounced into the goal.

On offense the Trojans did not create many scoring opportunities.  However, midway through the second half freshman Zahyr Sanchez shot from the 18 yard box and found a hole in the lower left corner for the games only goal.

The Trojans now sit at 3-2 and play at Omak on Tuesday, April 27.
