Wahluke –Saturday, Oct. 21
Submitted by Head Coach Michael Tucker

Chelan Soccer traveled to Wahluke yesterday. We arrived early to give ourselves a chance to loosen up after the long drive. It was a constant down pour and everyone was soaked by the start of the game. I was proud of the girls, for the most part they did not let the conditions impact their effort.
It was a sloppy game because of the soaked field and admittedly we played in an unorthodox manner, forcing passes and needing better communication but what we lacked in form we seemed to compensate with heart.  Ashley Sams was once again aggressive with in her box and was able to deny some good looks for Wahluke. We didn’t get much offense in the first half and were glad to go into half 0-0.
The second half was similar, though a score by Wahluke 8 minutes in seamed to wake up our offense and we started stepping up the field with more urgency. Our timing with one another seemed a little off all day and we weren’t able to put many shots on goals. Three late free kicks did give us opportunities and two great free kicks by Esme Vera were golden opportunities we failed to convert. The game would finish 1-0 in favor of Wahluke.
We face Cascade on Tuesday at home for our senior night. We will honor our two seniors, Captain Yasmin Granados and Esme Vera at half. It is our last home game of the season.

Liberty Bell – Saturday, Oct. 21
Submitted by Manson Athletic Director Eric Sivertson

The rain, sleet, and yes even snow did not hamper the Trojans effort at league finals at Liberty Bell.  It was the middle school runners last race for the season with terrific finishing by many of the 7th and 8th graders.  Boys placing 4th and girls 3rd for the league with once again lead runners Jesus Portillo and Cara Hutton.  Rounding out the boys following Jesus, were Hugo Lopez, Eli Willard, Rex Torgesen, Conner Clausen, Nicholi Sanchez, Jamison England, and Nate Katzer.  On the girls’ following Cara were Kate England, Emely Valencia, Raven Pope, and Valerie Hunt.  The outlook for many of these is very promising as some will move into the high school level next year.
The high school boys team placing 2nd overall with 49 points beating Tonasket with 75 points, Brewster with 108, Lake Roosevelt with 143, Christian Evergreen with 163, and Bridgeport with 181. The league champs were once again Liberty Bell with 26 points.  Outstanding performances by all the team members including Eddie Sarmiento, Connor Torgesen, and Jonathan Sarmiento to name just a few.  Manson’s girls ran well leading the pack was Libbey Ireland placing 13th followed by Grace Cullison 25th, and Addie Torgesen 29th .
Overall the Manson Trojans are in a good position for a state berth, but have one more race, districts at Walla Walla Park in Wenatchee, Wednesday, October 25th.  If the boys run well, the outlook is favorable for bringing the team to the state competition November 4th in Paseco at Sun Willows Golf Course.

Tonasket – Thursday, Oct. 19
Submitted by Manson Athletic Director Eric Sivertson

The Manson Lady Trojans fell to the Tonasket Tiger 5-0 on Thursday night on a cold wet night on the road.  Tonasket jumped on a slow start from Manson and quickly went up 2-0 in the first ten minutes.  The Lady Trojans began to grow into the game and create a few chances themselves with Veronic Lulo and Jasmin Valdovinos coming closest.  The first half ended with the Tigers leading 3-0.  In the second half things evened out a little.  Manson had a few great chances to score, hitting the post twice late in the game.  Lady Trojan goalkeeper Evelyn DeJesus played a great game, keeping many of the Tonsket attacks out of the net.  In the end the Manson girls soccer team fell 5-0 to the Tonsket Tigers.  Next up is senior night at the Manson Athletic Complex (MAC) at 6pm on Saturday versus Omak.

Bridgeport – Tuesday, Oct. 17
Submitted by Manson Athletic Director Eric Sivertson

The Manson Lady Trojan soccer team fell to Bridgeport 2-0 on Tuesday evening.  The Bridgeport goals coming after two goalkeeping mistakes at a time in the game where the run of play was relatively even.  Manson played well and created a number of scoring opportunities including a penalty kick, but could not finish when it mattered most.  The two first half conceded goals did not deter the Lady Trojans from pressing on to get back in the game but in the end fell to another disappointing loss.  The next game is at Tonasket on Thursday October 19.
