Chelan - Soccer
Versus Omak,
Thursday, Oct. 26

Submitted by  Head Coach Michael Tucker

Chelan traveled to Omak for our final regular season game. We came out and scored the first goal quickly. In spite of the goal we struggled to work together all night and Omak slowly came back. Omak tied the game 1-1 to go into half.

It didn’t get much better for us in the second. Omak would find the netting two more times before the final whistle. It wasn’t the way we wanted to finish the regular season, but we still are in the fourth seed and will head to Okanogan on Saturday for the first round of the playoffs.

Versus Cascade,
Tuesday, Oct. 24
Submitted by Head Coach Michael Tucker

Chelan hosted Cascade last night for our last home game and senior night.  We honored captain Yasmin Granados and Esme Vera at half time for all they have given to Chelan Soccer.

Cascade game out strong and scored two goals with in the first ten minutes.  Cascade would continue through out the first half to maintain possession  but we were able to prevent any more goals until half time. Our movement  and communication on the pitch continues to improve and on occasion we were able to get numbers up the field.  Ashley Sams had 14 saves in the first half.

In the second half we moved Ashley up to forward and Yasmin Granados to keeper.  The second half started similarly to the first as Cascade came out and scored two quick goals to go up 4 -0.  It would remain 4-0 much of the second half.   Ashley gave us more speed up the field and it created a couple good looks.  A couple late goals would give Cascade a final 6-0 win.  Yasmin would finish with 10 saves in the second half.  The girls played hard and have really started to show better team work the last three games.

We have a very important match in Omak tomorrow (Oct. 25) to conclude our league schedule.

Manson - Soccer
Versus Oroville
Monday, Oct. 24

Submitted by Athletic Director  Eric Sivertson

The Manson Lady Trojans stretched their season as far as it could go on Tuesday night by taking the Hornets of Oroville to a penalty shootout after a hard fought 1-1 draw.  Oroville prevailed in the shootout, winning 4-1, but the game will make the Manson girls soccer team proud.  After an even back-and-forth in the first half, Nadia Verdusco gave Manson the lead with a sharp finish into the bottom corner after a nice pass from Nadia Tejada.  Only minutes later, however, at the stroke of halftime Oroville tied the game up with a long-range effort that goalkeeper Evelyn DeJesus got a palm to but was unable to keep it out.  The second half saw a similarly evened match with both sides creating chances.  Nadia Verdusco came closest to scoring again when she hit the crossbar from about ten yards out.  The overtime saw some more grit and fight out of the Lady Trojans but when the penalty shootout came it was the Hornets who prevailed.  A proud yet difficult day for the Manson Lady Trojans to end their season on.  A season where they can all hold their heads high.
