Open letter of remembrance and thank you Chelan Valley Community

Posted
Dear Friends,

This Memorial Day Weekend, my wife Cathy and I are marking the 10th anniversary of the death of our daughter Lise Palmer and unborn granddaughter Faith.  We want to extend our special and heartfelt thanks to the generous people of the Chelan Valley Community for their prayers and support over these past years.
On May 26, 2011, Lise, her husband, and two toddler boys joined us for a long awaited vacation in Chelan.  The following morning, 29-year old Lise who was 31 weeks pregnant went out for a run on State Route 97A near the Best Western.  A vehicle crossed the center line, the southbound lane and the shoulder striking the guardrail.  It then struck Lise who was declared dead at the scene.
In the aftermath following this tragic event, our family has grown to be part of this wonderful community.  We attend services at the Lake Chelan Lutheran church.  Over the years, we contributed to the Chelan Public Library, partnered with the  Historic Chelan Downtown Association on a memorial bench in the Woodin Avenue Landing Park, and worked with family and WSDOT on the placement of a marker sign on 97A.
Our family considered leaving Chelan following this tragic event.
However, our daughter loved it here so much she would have wanted us to stay.  We accepted life’s challenges and decided to remain here with your help.  We want to especially thankPastor Paul Polumbo, David Hellyer, Gary Sterner, Jerry Isenhart, Tom Gormley, Erin McCardle, Kelly Allen, Jana Crawford, Bill Clark, Jerry Larsen, Dave Koenig, Jay Witherbee, Linda Farnsworth, and Michelle Lovato. We apologize if we left out others whose support we cherish.
Again, we thank the people of the Chelan Valley.
Sincerely,
Craig and Cathy
