Smart Meter hazards

Posted

Fair and balanced reporting is what we expect from the Mirror; however this coverage appeared one sided and failed to accurately report not only the actual reason this subject was on the City Council agenda but that other pertinent information was presented.

In fact, SmartMeterAwarenessGroup (“SMAG”, a large group of community members concerned about critical impacts of SmartMeters) requested a slot on the Council agenda to present research and ultimately request the City of Chelan take actions to opt out of PUD’s proposed SmartMeter installation in Chelan until they can offer an alternative that is safe/healthy for our community. In fairness, the Council subsequently invited the PUD to present an overview of their plan.

The PUD opened with a 15-minute standard presentation which was covered in detail by the Mirror; however, were readers made aware that 6 SMAG members presented over 30 minutes of documented research information? Not in the least.

The omitted presentations recited documented information on the overwhelmingly harmful effects of exposure to this technology cause:

Serious Health risks. Multitudes of symptoms/illnesses including cancer has been documented. Young and elderly are especially vulnerable.

Extreme fire hazards. To reduce costs, manufacturers of Smart Meters have removed crucial spark arresters. We cannot introduce such dangers to our extreme fire-prone area.

Detrimental effect on agriculture and environment. Wildlife and crops are affected. Bees, birds, butterflies are not surviving the EMFs from SmartMeters.

Personal privacy, security. PUD agrees overwhelming community concern exits here. Unfortunately they have no viable solution and will not guarantee our data will remain private.

The article stated there are “plenty of benefits” to SmartMeters. Without a doubt, hazards far outweigh any perceived benefits!

Also, “studies can seem somewhat intimidating”. Hardly! Studies can be extremely enlightening!!
