Chelan Valley Hope helping those in need, crisis in our valley

CHELAN FALLS - On Tuesday afternoon, July 27, over 45 volunteers and guests gathered at Chelan Falls Park for the Chelan Valley Hope (CVH) Summer Event thanking and honoring their past and current volunteers for their commitment to "helping others help themselves" through this social services non-profit agency.  CVH is in its 12th year of "furthering positive changes in people's lives" and assisting those in crisis and need with such things as emergency shelter, grocery and fuel vouchers, rent and utilities assistance, and referrals to other relevant regional resources.
At the Tuesday barbeque, long-time volunteer and intake specialist, Claudia Swenson, was honored with a certificate and gift for her work with CVH and also with the Seniors Tender Loving Care Program, the home visitation program affiliate of Chelan Valley Hope.  Claudia is handing off her responsibilities as  Program Coordinator to Sandy Zimchek.  Those interested in volunteering with TLC can email Sandy at tlcprogram4@gmail.com or call 509-669-9042.
Other long-time volunteers at Chelan Valley Hope that were honored included Marie Alice Hurst, Judi Stanford, Karen Anglin, Claudia Reed, Maxine Moore, Toni House, Joanne Knott, and Joan Pierce.
Jean Gambrielle, Executive Director of CVH, thanked all volunteers, and Michael Gibb, Board President, shared how Chelan Valley Hope benefits the greater Chelan Valley including northern Douglas County. Chelan Valley Hope "envisions a Chelan Valley where all people in need are compassionately and confidentially connected with timely relief and other relevant resources", Gibb said.
Chelan Valley Hope operates out of the Cornerstone Building at 417 South Bradley in Chelan and can be reached at 509-888-2114. Families and individuals in need and those interested in volunteering are encouraged to call.
