Entiat High School student serves as page in state House

Posted

OLYMPIA - Entiat High School student Rebecca Giacomazzi traveled to Olympia and served as a page in the state House of Representatives the week of March 13-17. She was sponsored by her 12th District Rep. Cary Condotta.

The page program is designed to educate students about the legislative process and expose them to the work being done at their state capital. Rebecca learned to navigate the many buildings on the capitol campus while delivering messages and documents to legislators and staff. She assisted representatives on the House floor during debate and voting.

“It is always great to sponsor the young people from the 12th District in our House page program. I am grateful for Rebecca’s service during her week in Olympia. I hope she will continue to find ways to be involved in the legislative process in the future,” said Condotta, R-Wenatchee. “The program is an excellent way for students to learn how our state government operates. I hope she enjoyed her time as a page and made lasting friendships.”

During her week in Olympia, Rebecca attended page school every day to understand the operations and actions of the Legislature.

The daughter of Grant and Tammy Giacomazzi, Rebecca plays volleyball, basketball and track for her school. In her free time she enjoys snowboarding and hiking.

To become a page, applicants must have a legislative sponsor, be between the ages of 14 and 16, and obtain written permission from their parents and school. Pages earn $35 per day while serving in the program.
