Manson Fire delivers for Season of Hope

Grocery, Manger Mall certificates provided

Posted

CHELAN – Manson Fire was out knocking on doors once again, Monday, Dec. 4. However, there was no fire emergency. Firefighters were delivering stockings to 15 less fortunate families within the Manson community. The stockings, containing over $6,000 in grocery gift certificates to Manson Red Apple and shopping vouchers to Manger Mall collectively, are delivered to aide in the financial struggles that many families face during the holidays.
For a decade now, Manson firefighters have been in search of a way to give back to the community, and help those in need. After considering and attempting other contributory methods of giving back and not achieve the success sought, the idea for the ‘Season of Hope’ was born. After a few years, the Manson Firefighters Association became a 501 (c) 3 (non-profit) organization, allowing the department the ability to give back to the community, and assist during financial hardships of other communities during times of natural disaster. According to Manson Fire, the total amount in charitable gives in the past 10 years is just under $100,000.
Donations for the ‘Season of Hope’ charity fund are accepted year-round. For more information on donating to the fund, contact Christ Willoughby at (509) 687-3222.
