Chris Baker replaces Ray Dobbs on Chelan council

CHELAN - The City of Chelan Council voted unanimously at its workshop meeting on Oct. 6 to appoint Chris Baker to the council (Position 3) to replace Ray Dobbs, who resigned because he will be moving out the area.
In his application letter Baker said he has a wide variety of education and business experience that makes him a great fit for the position. He has a degree in Political Science and enjoys learning about how government serves the people. He believes the Chelan valley is one of the most beautiful places on earth and would love to help Chelan remain a great place to live and work. He has been in public service most of his life, first as a public school teacher and now as a youth sports coach and an advocate for kids. He also belongs to Rotary International.
Other applicants were: Todd Higley, Dan Hodge, Dustin Thomas, and Dave Rogge.
This appointment is only through Dec. 31, 2021.  If Baker wants to continue to be on Council he will have to file in May for the November 2021 election. Whoever wins Council Position 3 in the election will fill the unexpired two year term which is through Dec. 31, 2023. There are also three other seats coming up for election next year: Position No. 2 – Erin McCardle, Position 6 – Tim Hollingsworth and Position 7 – Ty Witt   Anyone interested in running will have to file in May of 2021.
