White spruce seedlings to be given away

Posted

CHELAN - The City of Chelan has been named Tree City USA for the 15th year by the Arbor Day Foundation to honor its commitment to community forestry. The Tree City USA program is sponsored by the Arbor Day Foundation in cooperation with the National Association of State Foresters and the USDA Forest Service.

The City of Chelan will be holding its Arbor Day celebration on Friday, September 23, beginning at 11:30 a.m. in Don Morse Park, located at 619 West Manson Highway, Chelan. We will be hosting a free hot dog barbeque with a presentation by the Cascadia Conservation District. One hundred and fifty White Spruce seedlings will be given away to inspire people to plant, celebrate and nurture trees. We anticipate attendance of approximately 200 people.
Please come join us and celebrate the importance of trees which provide an abundance of resources and scenic landscapes to our valley and our continued commitment to be good stewards of the environment.
