Manson Apple Blossom Festival Grand Marshals

Posted

Long time residents Gary and Sandy Miller have been named “Grand Marshal’s” for the 102nd Manson Apple Blossom Festival.

Both Gary & Sandy have been very active in the local community after moving here in 1960.  They bought and operated the family apple orchard in 1963 and sold it in 1982 to Jim Koenig who currently owns “Rootwood Cider”.

After the orchard sold, Gary was hired by the U.S. Post Office and became the local mailman for 26 years.  Sandy worked at Chelan Valley Mirror, KOZI, Allison’s, Lake Chelan Sports and the Manson Building Supply.

When Gary retired, they decided to join the Manson Farmers Market.  Gary has always had a green thumb which he inherited from his mom (also a long-time resident of Manson, Wanda Miller).  Gary is known for his beautiful tomatoes and dried cinnamon apples while Sandy is world famous for her delicious apple pies.  They make a great team after 60 years of marriage!

Sandy joined Apple Blossom as secretary in 1966 and has since performed many of the committee jobs including the Chicken Noodle Dinner for many years.  Sandy was also named Chairman for the 64th Apple Blossom Festival.  Gary and Sandy’s three daughters were past royalty, and their son, Tim, was an escort for Princess Jennifer Allison.

Gary and Sandy love living in Manson and keep busy with the garden, yard work, travel and grandkids. Sandy has belonged to a group of lady friends that have walked every inch of Manson for around 25 plus years.

They have four children, Susie Fox (Manson), Kathy Jackson (Monroe), Mona Ferguson (Chelan) and Tim Miller (Jupiter, FL), eleven grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Thank you Gary and Sandy Miler for all your community support.
