Okanogan County confirms first COVID-19 case

OKANOGAN – After 78 negative test results for the COVID-19 infection and with 46 more pending, Okanogan County recorded its first positive case of COVID-19 late Tuesday afternoon, March 24.

An advisory alert issued by Okanogan County Emergency Management (OCEM) said the Okanogan County Public Health and Family Health Centers reported the positive case in the county and that the individual infected is in home isolation and poses no threat to the community.

The Okanogan County case joins one reported in Ferry County on March 25 and two in Stevens County as among the first confirmed in the North Central-Northeast areas of the state.

On March 23, Governor Jay Inslee signed a “Stay Home, Stay Healthy” proclamation that can be viewed in its entirety online at qchherald.com. In summary the key points of the Governor’s order include:

Stay Home – Avoid all non-essential outside travel.

No Gatherings – This ban includes pubic and private gatherings of any size.
