Sheriff’s Office investigates whereabouts of missing boater

Charles Baker was last seen on Monday, May 27.


BRIDGEPORT – The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) is seeking information on the whereabouts of a boater whose unoccupied watercraft was found drifting on the Columbia River five miles above Chief Joseph Dam.

Charles Baker, 81, was last seen on Monday, May 27, and the DCSO is requesting information from anyone who saw Baker launching or operating his boat on the river that day. Baker’s boat is a 14-foot green Alumacraft, registration number WN4147SJ with a Honda outboard motor. His 1990 blue Dodge pickup and boat trailer was found at the Army Corps of Engineers boat launch above the dam.

The DCSO, Okanogan County Sheriff Search and Rescue, Colville Tribal Police and Corps of Engineers searched the river for the missing man.

No foul play is suspected in his disappearance,” a DCSO media release said.
