WSP Detectives seeking witnesses to Vehicular Homicide/Vehicular Assault Collision

Douglas County – At approximately 7:36 p.m. on July 18, 2020, the Washington State Patrol (WSP) responded to a 2-vehicle fatality collision on State Route (SR) 28 near milepost (MP) 16.

A blue 2001 Nissan Maxima sedan was traveling westbound on SR 28 near MP 16. The driver of the Maxima drove off the roadway to the right and onto the dirt shoulder allegedly attempting to pass another vehicle on the right shoulder. The driver corrected to the left and lost control of his vehicle. The Maxima entered a counterclockwise rotation and crossed the centerline into the eastbound lane where it was struck by a black 2015 Chevrolet Colorado pickup. The right front passenger of the Maxima was killed as a result of the collision. The driver of the pickup suffered multiple fractures to his legs.
