Hazel Rose

After 88 joyful years, mother, faithful wife of 63 years, avid gardener, community servant for the hungry and homeless, our mother Hazel Rose left the world richer and warmer for her time here.

Hazel A Rose of Chelan, and formerly of Des Moines, Wash. passed away on December 17, 2019 in Chelan, Wash.

She was born September 12, 1931 in Lake Ozette, Wash., to father Paul W. Arbeiter                                     and mother Ilderi Minnie (Borseth) Arbeiter.

She was married to  John “Jack” W. Rose, on October 21, 1956 in Seattle, Washington. He survives her.

She got her BS,  from Washington State University, 1953;

and was employed by Seattle Times, Dorothy Neighbors homemaker advice column department, 54-57.

She attended the United Methodist Church in Des Moines (1964-1986) and and Lake Chelan (1986-2019)

Survivors include her daughter, Laura L. (Rose) King and husband John King, Chelan, Wash.; daughter,  Bonnie J. Rose, Olympia, Wash.; son, Donald S. Rose and wife Amy Rose, Franklin, Tennessee; son, Paul W. Rose, Bozeman, Montana; and grandchildren James King and Jenna (King) Braithwait, Sarah, Jack, Charlie, Adah Attiicus, and Penny Rose. 

Graveside service at Mansfield Cemetery, Railroad Ave., 10 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 28, 2019

Memorial service: at Lake Chelan United Methodist Church, 206 North Emerson St., Chelan on  Saturday, Dec. 28, 2 p.m. Reception to follow at the church.
