Janine Homan, 67, of Chelan, passed away peacefully in her sleep, on January 18, 2020.
Born in Tacoma, Jani grew up in the greater Seattle area. Graduating from Snohomish High School she went on to earn a degree in electronics at Edmonds Community College.  The beauty of the Columbia River brought her to the Wenatchee Valley in the early 70’s. Over the next 3 decades she worked various jobs while raising 3 children, Joe Hughes (46) now of Knoxville TN, Trish Hughes (44) of Wenatchee WA and Kyle McGuinn (39) of Chelan WA.
Jani found much joy in healthcare and made it her career, working as a CNA for Lake Chelan Community Hospital and providing home care in Eastern Oregon. Her patients always found comfort in her compassion. Jani’s time in Oregon allowed her to fulfil her dream of creating the Silly Bird Farm where she cared for over 150 birds, 4 sheep and 3 cats. The farm was also home to her many vegetable, flower and rock gardens.
Jani won her first bout with cancer before following the Columbia River Back to Chelan. Her time in Chelan was spent being an active member of the local recovery community. She formed many close friendships and impacted countless others on her journey. Jani also spent time home schooling and caring for her grandchildren (Addison Ryan, Sebastian Hughes, Charlie McGuinn and Penny McuGuinn) whom she loved dearly.
Jani expressed her passion for life through her writings, crafts and fashion. She greatly enjoyed making her own clothes and loved to make dream catchers for her family and friends. Her last years were spent with her Heritage Heights family here in Chelan, roaming the halls with a smile and an encouraging word for her fellow residents.
Jani is survived by her 3 children, 4 grandchildren, 1 brother (Steven Felker) and 3 sisters (Beth Felker, Lisa Stowe, Holly Billado) and nieces and nephews and well as friends. Jani left a lasting impact with her teachings and generosity. She will be missed but not forgotten.
A memorial will be held in the spring.
