1932 - 2018

Richard Edward Hopkins, 85, born September 19, 1932 in Keokuk, Iowa, passed away peacefully in his Bothell home on April 10, 2018.

He is predeceased by his parents; George Edward Hopkins and Dorothy Della Andrews; and his wife Ramona Mayotta Hopkins. He is survived by his brother Jack Hopkins of Lynnwood, Wash., and Mary Phillips of Wenatchee, Wash.; five children, Richard James of Manson, Wash.; Dorothy Nordgren (Tim) of Bothell, Wash.; Lucretia Harmon of Yakima, Wash.; Georgia Andreas (Kevin) of Yakima, Wash.; Monica Marble (Greg) of Manson, Wash.; 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and countless friends.

Dick’s loving and friendly heart connected with so many. Everyone he met was his “Buddy.” Dick loved people, Lake Chelan, the Seattle Mariners and Seahawks, country western music, laughter, eating, and oh, did he love his grandchildren.

Many saw Dick as a walking miracle. The astonishing number of near death events, hospitalizations, and recoveries contributed to his genuine faith and trust in God. Though he was amazingly strong he was truly grateful for the gift of life for which he often led us in giving thanks, “in Jesus name, Amen!”

With all his strength, the last words he spoke to his devoted family were, “I love you.” And indeed, he did love us, and loved us well.

Memorial service to be held Monday, 12:00 p.m., April 30, 2018 at Tahoma National Cemetery.
