Vesta Y. Austin

Posted
August 14, 1935-September 8, 2020
Our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed award Sept. 8, 2020 at Lake Chelan Community Hospital. Vesta was the first child born to Oscar and Julia (Branscomb) Lindsey in Searey, Arkansas August 14, 1935. The family moved to Chelan in 1944 where she lived the rest of her life, except for a brief move to Arkansas with her husband Bob and two youngest children in 1978 and another brief move to Wenatchee with Bob and two youngest. Vesta married Bob Austin August 9, 1970.
You could not beat Vesta’s home cooking. She especially enjoyed cooking for the holidays. She loved to sew and everything she made looked as if it had been done by a professional. She also made beautiful Victorian lamp shades. Vesta loved to on shopping trips and could out shop anyone.
Vesta’s passing has left a hole in the heart of the ones who loved her most. She will be missed very deeply.
Vesta has five sons from two previous marriages prior to marrying Bob and having one daughter.
Survivors include her children: Michael, Randall, John, Robert and daughter Chris, sister, Brenda Baker and brother Lynn Lindsey, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by longtime friend Jean Postelwait.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bob, son Gregory, parents Oscar and Julia Lindsey, sisters Lexie Grose and Deanne Haworth and her beloved cat Cali.
