Lake Chelan Health and Wellness Foundation donates to the Lake Chelan Lions Club Shamrock Shuffle Fun Run for Diabetes

Posted

CHELAN - Kim Dunbar and Tom Anglin of the Lake Chelan Health and Wellness Foundation presented a $1,000 check to Lake Chelan Lions Steve Shumway and John Page on Dec. 6. The donation signifies the Foundation’s continuing support of the Lions Club effort in the defeat of Diabetes. This prime sponsorship begins the fundraising effort for the Shamrock Shuffle, the Lions Club annual fun run on March 16, 2019, which precedes the Lions Club sponsored St. Patricks Day Parade. All the funds from the Shamrock Shuffle will be devoted to sending deserving kids to Diabetes Camp. This, the first year, the Lions Club sent two local kids and made a contribution to a third. Next year we are hoping to send as many as possible. Please see our Shamrock Shuffle website for your entry form and details:

The Lake Chelan Lions Club has been a vital part of the valley since 1935. The purpose of this longstanding group is to serve our community. Through many fundraising projects, the Lake Chelan Lions has donated funds, goods, and time to numerous organizations and individuals. Lions sponsor the Harvey Cooper Scholarships, the Echo Valley Ski Club, Sight and Hearing needs in the NCW Guide Dogs For the Blind, and many more. The Lions also are responsible for raising the American flags in the downtown Chelan for patriotic holidays.

The Lake Chelan Lions meets every second Thursday evening at 6 pm and every other Thursday for lunch at the Apple Cup Café (conference room) at Noon. If you are interested in helping to serve your community, stop by one of our meetings or talk to a Lion about joining. For information, contact Steve Shumway at 360-280-5854.
