CHELAN - Chapter GR, P.E.O. of Chelan-Manson is pleased to announce the recipients of $250 scholarships to one graduating young woman from Chelan and Manson high schools.
From Chelan, Gladiola Banuelos who plans to attend WSU in the fall majoring in bio-engineering, headed to an intended career in Veterinary Medicine
From Manson, Maria Belen Santana Gonzalez who plans to attend WSU majoring in biology and further study to become a neuroscientist.
These deserving young women were among 15 applicants.  These scholarships are awarded annually.
Chapter GR was also the conduit for the presentation of a $2,500 scholarship to Rosa Lopez-Barboza, a 2019 graduate of Chelan High School and a recipient of a local scholarship.  A chance encounter with visitors from Atlanta, Georgia in the summer of 2019 led to their continuing interest in Rosa’s university progress.  William and Betty Brookshire returned to Chelan this year and were inspired to offer this scholarship. Rosa is currently enrolled in WSU/Tri-Cities pursuing a degree in nursing.
P.E.O. is an international philanthropic organization promoting women’s education through scholarships, grants, awards and loans to motivate women to achieve their highest aspirations.
