Dear Chelan School District Community:
It is with great excitement and pride that we embark on our 2023-2024 school year journey.
More than ever, I anticipate a future when our schools become a more unifying force in the Chelan community. As we realize our vision, our students, faculty, and staff will achieve common goals with enhanced learning while believing in their own potential. What’s more, each individual will contribute compassionately within our community. These are the key tenets of our recently adopted strategic plan but it is up to all of us to achieve this reality.
Progressing on this path together, we are in great need of your assistance in addressing the strategic goal of improving our school facilities. For the last 10 months, the district has been developing both a long- and short-term facilities plan. Based on the study and survey conducted by ALSC Architects of Spokane, a list of potential projects and their costs was developed.
Every one of us, from the school board to the administration and staff, would appreciate hearing from you. What are your priorities and how should the district proceed? What is important to you? How would the decisions affect your student?
From the included list of potential projects accompanying our survey, please share your thoughts and insights. Help us make a decision on whether to proceed with an all-encompassing capital bond measure that would achieve a majority of the projects, including a new elementary school, or start with a capital levy to accomplish some of the smaller project goals?
Community and staff input is essential and I assure you, everyone concerned appreciates hearing your thoughts. Visit our online survey by using the QR code below or by linking to the facilities survey at www.chelanschools.org.
While many of us have been on summer vacation, I want to offer a tremendous vote of appreciation and thanks to the hard-working LCSD maintenance and custodial teams. Their work over summer break will allow our students and staff to return August 29 to freshly cleaned learning spaces. All of us value the facilities that were provided by our community and we show our pride by maintaining them for our joint benefit.
As always, do not hesitate to contact me if you have questions or suggestions regarding our district’s educational programs. I look forward to another successful school year.
