Masking Update for Lake Chelan School District

Posted

Dear Lake Chelan School District Families,
Over the past two years, students, educators, school employees, and their families have remained flexible and adapted to changing health and safety guidance as public health experts continued to learn more about COVID-19.
In a press conference yesterday afternoon, Governor Inslee announced that beginning March 21, face masks will no longer be required in K-12 schools and child-care settings.  In the Lake Chelan School District we are especially appreciative and grateful for how well our staff, students and parents have worked together with our schools to get to this point in time!
Even though we are extremely excited to be able to remove masks in our schools it will be important that we continue to follow the Governor’s guidelines. The state superintendent has made it very clear that school districts are required to follow the law, and the law currently requires masks in schools. If school districts willfully violate state law, they face legal and financial risks. Therefore, until March 21st, face masks will continue to be required for all students, staff and visitors in all school buildings

Sincerely, Barry P. DePaoli, Superintendent
