Student Athletes of the Week

Posted

Each week, Coaches nominate Student-Athletes in their programs that excel in their sport that week. We would like to recognize our Student-Athletes for their efforts and appreciate them representing the Lake Chelan School District wearing the “Chelan” uniform. Each Student-Athlete of the week winner will receive a “free cheeseburger, fries and drink” from B.C. MacDonalds.
Great job all Student-Athlete nominees and winners.
 This week’s Nominees:
 Chelan Middle School:
Benjy Williams – 7th grade Basketball
Benjy recorded 15 points, 6 assists, 6 steals and 5 rebounds in 2 games against Ephrata and Orchard MS. Benjy is a great teammate and hard worker.  He has been a consistent contributor, helping the 7th grade team get off to a 5-1 start to the season. – Coach Boyd
Pablo Mendez – 7th grade Basketball
Pablo was able to swing with both the B and the A team. He came in for one quarter on the B team and was able to score 8 consecutive points to put the B team ahead by 6. His defense allowed us to create an even larger lead that grew to around 12 and Orchard could not recover. Good work on the offensive as well as the defensive end. –Coach Reister
 Nate Harding- 8th grade Basketball
Nate has had a great season. This week scored in double figures in both games, with victories over Ephrata and Orchard.  Nate is becoming the coach on the floor, and he is learning all those things that go into being a true point guard. –Coach Stamps
Chelan High School
 Xitlali Cruz- Girls Basketball
Xitlali had an outstanding start to her high school career.  Xitlali had 25 points vs. Granger and Tonasket.  She combined with her teammates to hold Tonasket to 7 points in the first half and 2 points in the 2nd quarter.  Cruz is a tenacious defender who anticipates ball movement and is routinely in the proper defensive place. She works hard at practice and is constantly seeking to improve.
Billie Corter – Wrestling
Billie has been working hard all season and is a first year wrestler. This weekend at the Deer Park Tournament we needed a varsity 113lb wrestler Friday night for our team dual and then for our tournament Saturday. She stepped up and volunteered to step in and cover our 113lb spot. This means she had to wrestle guys and fought the whole time.
Great job Billie.- Coach Chambers
 Quinn Stamps – Boys Basketball
Quinn had 19pts 10rebs vs Tonasket and he had 21pts 14rebs vs Granger. Quinn was a tireless worker and iron man for the team in both of his first 2 games.  -Coach Pearl
