AppleSox seeking host families for summer baseball season

Posted

WENATCHEE - The Wenatchee AppleSox is seeking host families to provide housing for players during the upcoming season, which runs from early June through mid-August. The team is still looking to place eight players with local families.

Host families are required to provide an extra room and bed for the player and must reside in Wenatchee or a neighboring town. In return, host families receive several benefits, including free season tickets, an invitation to the annual host family appreciation dinner, free registration for host family children to the AppleSox youth instructional clinics, and recognition on the field at the final regular season home game.

AppleSox players, who come from around the country, are considered terrific role models for kids in youth baseball programs and can also be helpful around the house for senior citizens. The team believes these players are a real asset to the community during the summer.

Interested families should be aware that some players have cat allergies and/or may not have their own transportation. The AppleSox play almost every day during the summer and are on the road for half the season.

Those interested in becoming a host family for the upcoming season are encouraged to contact AppleSox general manager Allie Schank at (509) 665-6900 or via email at allie@applesox.com.
