WENATCHEE - Chelan County Assessor Wes Cornelius has announced a series of community meetings this spring, aimed at property owners and interested parties across the county. The sessions are designed to provide insights into the property assessment process, including using sales data for market analysis and the methodology for neighborhood revaluations.
The meetings will cover the current trends observed in the real estate market and their potential impact on the assessed values for 2024, which will affect taxes in 2025. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage directly with Cornelius and his staff, offering a platform for questions and clarifications.
Cornelius emphasized the importance of transparency in the assessment process, stating, "We had a four-year hiatus, but we’re looking forward to getting back out into our local communities to share what we do at the Assessor's Office and answer all of your questions. We believe the property assessment process for property tax purposes should not be a mystery to the taxpayers of Chelan County."
